APPLE CINNAMON CHIPS

Not a lot to say about this post-apples-cinnamon-sugar-salt-low oven-time-yum!  This is a pretty easy treat to make, especially while apples are at such good prices right now.  Great after school snack or added to a homemade granola or morning oatmeal.  Try different kinds of apples to see what you like (Gala is my favorite), can also adjust the sugar to cinnamon ratio, this was perfect for my tastes,  or cut out the sugar all together and use pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon….ideas are endless, what about pears?

6 apples-I used 2 granny smith, 2 red delicious and 2 Gala
1 tbls cinnamon
2 tsp granulated sugar
1/4 tsp sea salt

makes about 30 or so chips
prep and baking time-2 hours
special equipment-mandoline
250°

Wash and dry the apples (don’t forget those pesky stickers either).

Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.  Spray on a little cooking spray and set pans aside.

In a med bowl, mix together the cinnamon, sugar, and salt-set aside.

Preheat your oven to 250°

Using a mandoline, or sharp knife, slice apples thinly.  You can core the apples before slicing, but it’s much prettier with the star in the middle (and one less step) do what you like, but make sure to remove any seeds.

Carefully toss the sliced apples in the bowl with a spoon or your hands, making sure to evenly coat with the spices.

Lay out the apple slices on the baking sheets, you can crowd them a bit, just don’t layer on top of each other.

Pop into the oven for 40 min, flip each slice and rotate pans.  Return to the oven for another 30-40 min.  Depending on how thinly you sliced them, and your oven, they might take more or less time.  Keep an eye on them.

They will continue to crisp up as they are cooling.  Store in an airtight container for 1 week♥Enjoy
